Teeth Whitening Philadelphia, PA

Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple whitening procedure. Teeth whitening treatment is one of Dr. David J. Weinstock’s most popular cosmetic dental treatment.

Teeth whitening can be used for a variety of cosmetic smile corrections. For increased confidence in appearance, whitening technology allows us to promise improvements in yellowing, aging, or stained teeth. For very severely stained teeth, crowns or porcelain veneers may be more appropriate to achieve white teeth.

Dental whitening can be used to correct many tooth discolorations. Tooth discolorations may have been caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in whitening technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, brilliant smile.

In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, whitening may not be the answer. In cases like this, crowns or veneers may be your best choice, but because of the low cost of whitening treatments, whitening is nearly always worth a solid try. Over-the-counter whitening agents are available for purchase at drug stores and pharmacies, however, since these products can cause harm to the gums and teeth, it’s better to use professional teeth whitening. In our office, we always take preventative measures to ensure that no damage occurs while undergoing whitening treatment.

What to Expect: Professional Teeth Whitening

There are two whitening options that we have incorporated into our practice to whiten our patients’ teeth: the Zoom Advanced in office treatment and take home tray whitening technique. We perform Zoom Advanced teeth whitening at our Bala Cynwyd, PA cosmetic dentistry office in a single 45-minute session, after which our patients have achieved dramatically whiter teeth. Zoom Whitening can brighten patients’ teeth by up to 8 shades. Our home tray technique provides the same excellent whitening effects as Zoom Advanced, but results take two to four weeks to become apparent. This whitening treatment is done within the comfort of patients’ homes, using a lower-strength whitening agent over a longer course of time.

Zoom® Advanced Teeth Whitening

Zoom® Advanced Teeth Whitening Philadelphia, PA

Zoom® Advanced is one of the most advanced teeth whitening systems available. A quick Zoom® Advanced treatment whitens teeth an average of eight shades with a significantly reduced chance of post-procedural tooth sensitivity.

To perform the Zoom® Advanced procedure, your cosmetic dentist will first cover up your gums to prevent them from being exposed to any whitening agents. Then he will apply the hydrogen peroxide-based Zoom!® Whitening Gel to your teeth. Next, he exposes your teeth to the special Zoom!® light, which causes the gel to break down and erase stains from your teeth. The procedure is completely safe and provides astonishing results after just 45 minutes. With Zoom!® Whitening patients can brighten their smile by up to 8 shades in less than an hour’s visit to our office.

Following the Zoom® Advanced in office teeth whitening treatment, Dr. Weinstock will provide you with Zoom!® Take-Home Gel for occasional touch-ups, and he’ll give you full instructions for caring for your teeth so that they maintain their pearly whiteness. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact our office. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Professional At-Home Tray Whitening Technique

Our home tray whitening technique is safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to begin whitening. An impression is taken to make a specialized “mouthguard” or “tray” to hold the whitening agent against the teeth. In only a few days your custom whitening trays will be ready for you to have fit.

We provide you with a special whitening agent that you put into your clear, almost invisible trays. The material is used each night for about one to two hours for a number of weeks. With only a few hours of wear per day, this special whitening agent bubbles stains and discoloration right out of your tooth enamel in a very short amount of time.

At the end of your treatments, a significant improvement to your teeth’s shade will occur. In some cases, the change is nothing short of brilliant. This process works without altering the structure of the teeth or existing dental work in any way. When your teeth reach the brightness you want, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile.

Instructions for Successful At-Home Tooth Whitening

  • Brush and floss teeth before inserting tray.
  • Dispense a small dot of gel on the bottom front side of each tooth as well.
  • If gel oozes out of the tray, wipe excess off gums with a finger.
  • After whitening, brush teeth and rinse out the whitening tray.

Professional Teeth Whitening FAQs

Do you have further questions about your whitening options and our whitening services? Continue reading to find answers to frequently asked questions in our office.

How long does a take home whitening kit take to whiten teeth?

The home tray whitening process takes approximately two to four weeks depending on the intensity of discoloration of your teeth. This varies from person to person, however, two to four weeks and a general estimate of when your take-home whitening kit should begin to reveal results. In some cases it may take longer if your teeth are severely stained, or if the staining is intrinsic.

Why do my teeth look ultra white after completing my whitening treatment?

Your teeth may seem too white when you first complete your whitening treatments. This is completely normal and is not something to worry about. They will rebound and then attain their new, stable shade about two weeks after treatment.

Will I have to re-whiten my teeth?

Some patients never need to re-whiten their teeth after treatment. However, if your teeth seem to be diminishing in whiteness, it is possible to do a one or two-night touch-up every four to six months. Extra gel for boosting your result may be purchased from our office and may help you to be able to do touchups at home, without the need of scheduling another whitening appointment in our office.
