I have always received compliments about my smile. I was blessed with straight white teeth and I never needed to wear braces. Growing up, I went to the dentist for regular cleanings and examinations. During my college years, I became lax about my dental care and, as a result, developed decay in many of my teeth. After finishing college, I knew that I needed to find a dentist who would restore my teeth to a healthy state.

One of my upper front teeth had developed an infection near the root. I needed to have a root canal and a crown. I was unfamiliar with the process and I trusted that my dentist would make sure that the new crown resembled my natural tooth. Unfortunately, the final result was unattractive. My new crown had an unsightly black metal line between the gum and the crown. I also had pain and sensitivity in the surrounding gum tissue. At first I tried to overlook the fact that this crown was so unattractive. Friends told me that food was catching between my teeth and I realized that this was due to my poorly made crown. I tried to hide it by smiling with my mouth closed and by covering my mouth with my hands when I spoke.

In addition, he is a clinical instructor at Penn’s dental school and specializes in esthetic, reconstructive, and implant dentistry.
